Convert your Fujifilm raw to HDR

Takes most of Fujifilm raw. Bayer or x-trans. It will output HEIC HDR format. If you have a XDR or HDR display (like iPhones or iPads) you can see the image loads up then glow after a second or two. Your “white point” will be significantly brighter.

Since Fujifilm LUTs are for only 8bit. It can’t apply to HDR. I made my own “Fujifilm curve simulator” which based on minor tuning of saturation, contrast, brightness.

The initial image would look pretty flat (like you are looking at video from f-log) that’s the nature of RAW with linear color curve. I am no official Fujifilm engineer. I don’t have their color science to work with. So produced HEIC normally you need your own adjustments to make them sing.

My experiences is that matching from osx preview of original JPEG output, the straight out HEIC needs a tiny bit of adjustment of WB towards to magenta tan. Contrast is +10, saturation is +16, black point needs to lower a little then it’s very close to the on camera JPEG of “provia”.

But due to nature of HDR, on your phone will look so much brighter on the contrasty scenes such as night shots or sunsets.

ENJOY! Fujifilm fans!

Yes! HDR looks dimmer when you can’t display HDR. But it looks brighter when your device can. Just so you know ✌️
