Some thoughts about the music + sound

Discussion

I really enjoyed the music of Prime 4. It feels like a fairly cohesive evolution of the music choices and styles from the original trilogy, especially what you hear in fury green.

Something that stuck out to be though is how busy every single track seems to be. I don't mind this, but it feels very maximalist, and it makes it harder to enjoy the music on its own. It feels like everything, depending on the tempo, has multiple synths, a choir, and a fairly aggressive guitar line. The choir especially often feels like it's too much, but the guitar fits the theming very well. I found myself wishing there'd be less going on for many songs. No music in the desert (Without an amiibo) feels weird.

I think this isn't helped by the fact that some enemies have an additional layer of music or effects that they layer on to the music if you're close to them. Eg, grievers.

Sound effects are overall fine, but the morph ball is a stand out. Loved the sounds of rolling over different materials, hitting walls, etc. Lot of weight to it. Save stations, scanning, item pickup, etc all feel very faithful. Good punch to a lot of the cinematic explosions, if not the combat explosions.

Curious to hear if other people felt similarly, especially on the music.
