Quilt patterns

I have never made a quilt before and I’m starting to see some inspiring work on social media that is making me want to try it out. I have a couple questions:

1. Is there a website like Ravelry for quilt patterns?
2. Do most people use patterns for quilts or do most people make up their own designs?
3. Should I buy a pattern book? Any recommendations are welcome
