Cycle of Constantly Comparing Myself to Myself.

Advice Needed

I feel trapped in a terrible cycle. I’m only 19, but I’ve been dealing with BDD for as long as I can remember. I constantly look back at photos of myself from when I was 15–17, comparing every little detail, and it makes me feel sick to my stomach thinking about how insecure I was back then, even though that was my peak. I know that in a year, I’ll probably be doing the same thing, comparing myself to my 19-year-old self and feeling like I wasted my potential. It’s like I’m stuck in this endless loop of measuring myself against my younger self, on top of constantly comparing myself to others.

I realized how bad it was getting when I started uploading comparison photos to ChatGPT and prompting it to list every single difference…

P.S. This was before I learned about the environmental, economic, and societal harms AI causes.

If anyone has some advice to overcome this somehow or even just feel a bit better please let me know. ❤️
