Thoughts on: In the FNaF 4 minigame, why would the tiny toy chica be missing her beak?
!Though it's been a long time, I wanted to take a try at answering a question Scott posed to GTLive. That question being:!<
!In the FNaF 4 minigame, why would the tiny toy chica be missing her beak?!<
!First, it seems pretty well agreed upon that the removable beak of Chica is intentional. Since both the animatronic and the toy we see in the FNaF4 mini-game show an ability to be without their beaks. If we take the beak's removable nature to be intentional, then the reason the tiny toy chica was missing her beak was because the little girl took it off because it was removeable.!<
!How does that help us understand anything about the lore of the game? Ask yourself one more question...!<
!WHY is the beak of toy chica removable?!<
!It might not seem interesting at first, perhaps its just a fun feature. Maybe they were prototyping(!). Maybe it had the ability to switch parts between other toys. Or maybe, it was a design change out of necessity.!<
!I believe that the event referred to as The Bite of '87 was an incident in which a Chica animatronic's beak injured the frontal lobe of a guest.!<
!Here's the information we are given about The Bite of '87.!<
!"...they used to be allowed to walk around during the day too. But then there was the Bite of '87. Yeah. It's amazing that the human body can live without the frontal lobe, you know?"!<
!So what do we know? It happened in 1987. An animatronic hurt someone while they were on the floor during the day (I think the big point here being that this incident was public). And that the end result was injury to the frontal lobe...and that the person who was harmed lived.!<
!In Ultimate Custom Night, Toy Chica has two important quotes: “Where’s my beak? Lodged in your forehead of course.’ and ‘Let’s go somewhere more private…so I can eat you.’ There’s also a court paper detailing a case referring to an event that sounds similar to The Bite of '87.!<
!I believe that what this (and this is mirrored in phone guy’s calls in FNaF2) is telling us is that once this incident happened, Fazbear had to make some changes to Chica’s design. Notably, the ability to remove her beak (if a beak was in someone’s head it is understandable that the appearance of it in later iterations was unwanted or perhaps it was a safety issue and the beak has an easy detach mechanism to avoid serious injury), and the change of the words on her bib from “Let’s Eat” to “Let’s Party.” They needed to make the toys "super kid friendly" after all the bad incidents (though I find this a little ironic because a tiny detachable beak is not super kid friendly, but also rings so true for a Fazbear decision lol).!<
!So now, with that assumption, let's go back to the question: In the FNaF4 minigame, Why is toy Chica missing her beak?!<
!My answer? Because FNaF4 is set after The Bite of 1987.!<
!I think this question was intended to help us place FNaF4 amongst the first four games. It was trying to move us away from the year 1983. I think answering this question and the other hints this way also helps with Midnight Motorist, The Box, and (at least the OG) timeline, but I wanted to start here to see if anyone had the same thoughts or thought this was interesting. Thanks for reading! :)!<
