I am sick of being the family tell all.
This sounds incredible selfish. I appreciate that my family finds me the easiest person to talk to, however, I have been incredibly burdened by this.
As a kid, I would have to clean my parents wounds after surgery. No one asked my sister to do this.
When my Mom died at 12 years old, my Mom told me she didn't feel well and broke down to me. She did not tell my sister. I found my Mom blue and when she died, I was the first person who learned about this. Not my sister.
When my Dad got sick when I was 27, I was the only one who took care of him. Not my sister. I knew everything that was going on, not my sister.
When my cousin died suddenly, I was told first. I was instructed to tell the rest of my family.
When my aunt found out she had stage 4 cancer, I was the only person told and I could not tell the rest of my family.
When my uncle almost died, I was the only one told. I was instructed to not tell anyone else.
Now, my aunt has bad news, and I am again, the only person who is going to be told, and I was instructed to not tell anyone else.
I have been told by my family that I am the only reliable one, I am the easiest to speak to, I am the most helpful, the most understanding, etc.
I love that but I am also exhausted being the bad news keeper. It weighs heavy on me. I am tired.
