ProKennex Black Ace 16mm Pickleball Paddle - Amazing coming from Joola Pro IV 14mm
I'm a 4.0 level player, playing consistently 2-3 times/week for the last year.
Just purchased the ProKennex Black Ace 16mm, coming from the Joola Tyson McMuffin Pro IV 14mm. I really liked the feel of the Joola, just enough control and power together, but my shoulder was still bothering me a bit so I figured I would try the ProKennex on sale for $223 (down from $279). I thought the Joola was felt really soft until I tried an old ProKennex Ovation which absorbed every vibration. So, I gave the new Black Ace 16mm a try.
With my first hit, I immediately felt a difference. The new paddle absorbed each hit just like the old Ovation paddle. It had amazing touch and control and somehow also had a perfect amount of power. I then realized that it had the ability to create a great amount of spin. I tried one of my backspin serves and the person completely missed the ball. At the net, when people hit hard drives on me, I'm able to control my hit back and still don't feel any vibration. I definitely didn't get this amount of spin and control on my Joola. After playing today, my arm feels really good. It will become my primary paddle, for sure.
It's disappointing that there aren't many reviews of the new ProKennex Black Ace series, hopefully people give it a try. It's worth it.
If you have tried any of the other models of the new Black Ace 14mm or 16mm paddles, please leave a comment so others can hear about them.
