In summary, here are the main points she makes:
	•	She doesn’t wear hijab not out of rebellion, but after 30 years of studying the Islamic tradition, scholarship, and law.

	•	There is no universal consensus among scholars that hijab (as a headscarf) is obligatory. The issue has always had multiple legitimate interpretations.

	•	The Qur’an’s verses emphasize modesty, and modesty is contextual across cultures and time periods.

	•	Classical Islamic legal works treated hijab as adab (etiquette), not as a strict legal obligatio, often only half a page was dedicated to it.

	•	She learned from Dr. Khaled Abou El Fadl’s research that God’s silence or ambiguity in the Qur’an signals room for interpretation, not rigid rules.

	•	Forcing hijab, or telling women they are sinning without it, is making something halal into haram, which is considered a major sin.

	•	Shame over hijab pushes many women away from Islam, silences them, or harms their mental well-being, none of which aligns with God’s moral priorities.

	•	She stresses that no one, especially men—has the right to pressure or police women about hijab. It’s a private decision between a woman and God.

	•	She believes God prioritizes justice, compassion, dignity, and spiritual growth over external form.

	•	She also explains how hijab can put women at risk in modern societies, and that God would not obligate something that causes harm.

	•	Whether a woman wears hijab or not, what matters is her integrity, modesty, and her relationship with God.
