Relocation Troubles

Gonna try to be succinct but... needs some backstory....

My wife and I are going on 10yrs together; last 2 married. We've been excellent communicators and we've never had a fight; but we have had intense discussions. We complete each other and she definitely puts up with a lot of my bullshit. We have almost everything we could want materially. We have a challenging 5mo; he's just a handful, no developmental or other issues. We moved to L.A. 5 years ago so she could continue her higher education from NC. I wasn't keen on it, but we moved cross country and I landed on my feet. Her opportunities havent been stellar but I've rocketed forward; my superpower seems to be finding stellar teams and managers. I got laid off 4 months ago and landed a spectacular full WFH gig.

The issue: We want to leave L.A. it's all round too expensive. Not family friendly. Really far from our extended family who we want to be part of our LO's life. I've provided alternatives but she seems dead set to return to NC. Doesn't want alternatives to RTP; I've suggested Boulder/Denver (weed culture), Pittsburgh (too cold), Seattle (too rainy) Madison (too cold)...like I get it, she doesn't want to be cold but I don't want to be in 90-100 degree summers in LA either and I put up with it without complaint for 5 years.

Look, we both grew up in the south; and I am 10000% fine never living there again. Summers are miserably hit and humid, too many fking bugs, and the culture is...lacking. seriously, if you don't love football or golf you're SOL finding friends, and I don't wsnt my little one playing either....plus the way politics are trending I don't want to wind up in a MAGA state...and bless your heart if you have a problem with that but that's my opinion.

She's.... processing. But she wants NC.

I'm not sure how/what to do. I gave up everything to move out here with her, close family, my job, my friends...and she did too on a gamble. I landed on my feet but she didn't. And now I'm being asked to give up hobbies, friend groups, potentially my job, definitely pay, and pets (aquarium keeper, it took 2 yrs to setup right and flourish), again; and only bc she knows her parents will move right away to be nearby in NC...I don't have an issue with them, they're very kind and obscenely generous but...I feel like I'm the asshole here not wanting to go forward.

I just don't know how many more times I can get incredibly lucky with a manager and team and job I love. And I'm feeling like I'm getting screwed over again.
