r/texts enables bullying and abusive relationships
every time i read a post there and its someone clearly being abused the comments all trash the person for being with them and find one little sentence to latch themselves on to to make OP seem as bad. many times i’ve read “you both suck” type comments or just trying to say the person is equally at fault for defending themselves. do they even know how real abuse scenarios play out? they have such a weird view of how someone being treated like shit should act and it’s based of this redditor like black and white moralistic code so many of them subscribe to. it’s
just gross i see this on other subs too where someone’s asking for help and an opinion on how they’re being treated only for the whole thread to become derailed with assumptions about the op. the comments become blatant bullying with people saying actually nasty things about the person, downvoting them explaining their situation, implying they’re stupid for not seeing they’re being abused, digging up their old posts they made venting about the same person. then the person deletes the posts obviously because it’s really overwhelming for someone to on top of being treated badly at home having thousands of strangers reacting to it in bad faith, and people continue to comment on the deleted post even trying to repost it. i’ve had this happen to me but even now i’ve seen it with others on the same few subs over and over and i swear they deliberately cultivate a atmosphere of victim blaming on there
