RTX 5000 FOMO for gamedev or is my setup good enough for next 5 years?
With the ongoing memory craze, I am pondering if it's worth upgrading my current setup in order to make it last at least until things stabilize, so around 5years? I mostly do gamedev on UE5, blender, animation and other gamedev programs with occasional gaming. I thought of maybe upgrading my GPU to a 5070ti 16gb or a 5080 16gb (lots of Asus prime and Tuf gpu available with a few astral, some zotac solid too) or even wait a few months for the 24Gb models to come out? Maybe even go for Radeon? Do I need more ram too? I read that I should have 64gb ddr4 ram to make my system work. I don't do ai, crypto or any heavy gaming and I don't tend to have multiple program working at the same time. This is my setup:
- Motherboard: ROG Strix B550-F Gaming wifi
- Monitor: Asus VG27A
- Monitor 2: Dell S2725QC
- Power supply: Rosewill 850w 80plus bronze
- Case: Fractal Design Focus G Mid-Tower ATX, stock fans 1 exhaust in the rear and 1 exhaust top
- GPU: Nvidia Geforce RTX 3080 msi 10GB
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core processor
- CPU cooler: Noctua NH-D15 G2
- 2x 140mm Noctua NF-A14x25 G2 PWM as intake
- RAM: 2x16GB Teamgroup Vulcan Z DIMM DDR4 3600MT/S
- Storage: 1TB SSD kingston SA2000M81000G+ 4TB Western digital SN850X
