Quick review of Wolves of Tukayyid (spoiler free)

SpoilerDiscussion

First, I love the new mechs and the Arrow IVs, the incubus might blind me every time I shoot it’s weapons but it’s fun. The shadowhawk 2C is a great mech, the Ice Ferrett is better than it has any right to be, the Bane is a meme, a fun one. The Linebacker might be my new favorite omnimech period and the Naga is really cool in how you can just have two different SRMs and go full asymmetry

As for the missions and story

The missions are great! They’re intense, you can really feel Comstar trying to grind you down. My only criticism is I wish I saw more of Comstar trying to retreat with hit and fade tactics as they canonically did

The story…it’s not that interesting, the lack of cutscenes really hurt this one. I didn’t feel like I got to know any of my starmates, which is a far cry from Ghost Bear Flash Storm where, despite being less missions, I felt very connected to my star at the end of it all

Finally, the music, they nailed it once again.

In the end, Ghost Bear Flash Storm is my favorite story out of all of Mechwarrior 5 (both Mercs and Clans) but Wolves of Tukayyid Noght have some of the most fun mission design seen in the Mechwarrior 5 catalogue thus far
