Am I the only one who doesn’t think Otto Hightower was that bad of a dude?

Show Discussion

At least not by Westeros standards. He did kinda sell out his daughter to the king, but it didn’t seem to be out of the ordinary. Corlys did that too, and Laena was even younger than Alicent.

He mostly seems like an ambitious lord to me, and a pretty reasonable one imo. Like he plotted against the king, but in Westeros every 1 in 3 plots against a king or a lord or someone with power.

I have also seen him compared to Tywin, which makes no sense because Otto is practically an angel compared to Tywin.

Obviously he did some bad stuff but people seem to over exaggerate his actions compared to others. Like spying on Rhaenyra when she was young (and he also never seemed to make up any lies either. At least not what he thought was lies)

But Daemon and Rhaenyra had an innocent man killed so they could get married, but that isn’t viewed nearly in the same lights as Otto’s actions.

Also, has Corlys been in the same position, if Laena giving Viserys a son and said son not being heir or betrothed to Rhaenyra, I know he would have started to gather armies before Second of His Name could be an episode.
