You all lauded the pick. Keep that energy.

I’ve already seen the same flip flopping that occurred when Yang was drafted, happening now. When he was drafted, Cronin could do no wrong and it was a home run week because we shipped DA, traded Ant, and got Jrue and Yang. Yang, who in the majority of his minutes in the NBA so far has looked like an abject disaster. Joe Cronin and his scouting and draft analysis team passed up on Queen, Coward, and Bryant to pick Yang.

The same Cronin who openly said he would have drafted Yang last year instead of Donovan (could you imagine a Yang with even one less year playing than now?). The same Cronin who scouted and drafted Sharpe over Jalen Williams and Jalen Duren (who’s averaging 19 & 12 this year btw). The same Cronin who drafted Scoot over Amen Thompson (who’s the starting PG on a contender with KD and averaging 17.5, 7, and 5). If you want a deep cut, he drafted Rupert over Camara, if that tells you any more about their drafting analysis. “But it’s deep second round-“ who cares? They used the pick and have had Rupert this entire time?

I digress and return to how I’ve felt about this pick from the beginning: it was organizational malpractice to decline the Pelicans offer for their UNPROTECTED 2026 pick. Who cares is Yang would’ve been there or not?
