How to get better at messaging on dating apps?

I get a decent amount of matches on bumble, however my biggest challenge is that that my messaging game is whack. Like I’ve tried every kind of opener. Everything from simple greeting, complimenting them on their pictures/personality traits, and even being funny. Maybe my funny jokes aren’t that funny, idk. But I can’t seem to get further than a few messages deep, then it kind of trails off. Is there something y’all are doing that’s more successful?
