Baby blues

Postpartum Life

Hi. I’m 4 days postpartum, and I gave birth at 36 weeks due to chronic hypertension. It was an emergency c section, but I already had a previous c section with my 5 year old. Everything was wonderful in the hospital, I’m recovering well. But baby blue has hit me like a ton of bricks. I am crying so much, I am not smiling, eating. My husband who has been wonderful in picking up my slack, is trying to be there for me. But he doesn’t fully understand on how to help. My baby sleeps good. Eats good. I’m trying to pump to give to her but having a hard time getting all my milk out (figuring out the right settings for my pumps). But I kind of regret having a second kid. I do not know if this is baby blues or postpartum depression setting in. But I hate that I can’t give my 5 year old all my attention like I use to (she is adjusting well, doesn’t seem phased by it at all besides her always checking in on baby). I love my baby. I really do. But I also miss the life I had when it was a family of 3. I was so excited my entire pregnancy. Thinking of how my children will play. Fight. Etc. but now I just in a state of mind of “here”. I just want to know if this will pass, or should I be expecting postpartum depression, and seek professional help sooner? (My first kid, they dismissed it for over 6 months). Or if it’s normal to have regret because of the baby blues and it will get better. I’m venting a little bit too I apologize. :(
