“Valentina” was not an ally

Questions / Advice Wanted

I came out to my older sibling 3-4 years ago, they were going through things and confessed some stuff about their life to me. So in turn I came out to them. They were supportive, they even took me to a pride parade per my request (though we only really drove by because of parking). Religion had fucked us both over but we had each other, I felt accepted for the first time in my life, I felt like even if out parents were to find out I’m a lesbian and disown me I would still be safe because I had them.

Not any more apparently, so much about them has changed. But I was there for them when it mattered when they needed support but now when I need support the most it’s not given, instead I’m met with “Be better.” And ”listen to what the Bible says.” “you don’t have to marry anyone.” So I‘m just supposed to be alone? Follow some stupid testament I don’t believe in. And I know for a fact they don’t entirely believe in it either. But here they are. They said some very homophobic things I don’t want to get into, and it hurts because I would defend and support them more than anything and they can’t do the same for me.

Religion was taught.

I couldn’t find the right words, or enough, to explain how they’ve hurt me. I’ve tried in the past when I’ve needed them and they‘d flake on me. But just this once I want to make it known what they made me feel, with words they will maybe actually process.

What do I say? Because nothing feels close enough.
