My students accidentally made me go viral and now the principal wants to “leverage” it

Teacher Support &/or Advice

So last week I let my class make a short video project for fun before winter break. It was supposed to be a parody ad for our school library. I thought it’d just live on the class Google Drive forever. Somehow one of the kids uploaded it to TikTok and it blew up overnight. Like, 2 million views. The video is harmless, just me dramatically pretending to guard the last working printer in school with a plastic sword. Kids added fake slow motion, music and a “Teacher of the Year” caption. Now every student in the building salutes me in the hallway and the librarian brings me coffee. It’s funny but also… surreal. Yesterday the principal called me in and said we should “capitalize on this moment” and maybe “recreate the energy for our district’s social media.” I just stood there like, I didn’t even know what app it was on until this morning. I’m proud of my students for being creative but also kinda terrified I’ll end up as a meme on the school website. Do I just roll with it or beg the internet gods to forget me?
