Descriptive words

This is irrational and I’ve never heard of anyone who shares this pet peeve.

The use of descriptive words is like nails on a chalk board for me.

Some examples:

“Ugh it’s so hot, I need a nice cold drink” (why do you need to say nice cold)

“I love a wholesome home cooked meal” (why do you need to say it’s wholesome)

“I just want to go home and put on some comfy sweatpants” (I know sweat pants are comfy)

Usually people talk like this in a cosy manner. I can’t even think of a logical reason why I don’t like it. It’s just a visceral feeling.
