MY EXPERIENCE LIVING IN ALBANIA SO FAR
My experience in Albania so far (medium-term stay / digital nomad):
The Good
- Weather + Safety: Great climate and it feels genuinely safe. Crime seems low.
- Walkability: Easy to move around most cities without a car unless you’re going way off-path.
- Cost: Still cheaper than much of Europe, though prices are climbing fast.
The Not-So-Good
- Beach pollution: Hard to ignore on a lot of the coastline.
- Infrastructure: Sidewalks are rough. No trains or light rail. Mostly old buses or taxis that feel overpriced.
- Tourist tax: Getting charged more than locals happens too often.
- Tirana fatigue: Crowded, noisy, constant construction, and sidewalks that keep breaking your stride. Fast growth is great, but it wears on you.
I’m thinking about heading to Greece or Spain next.
If you’ve lived here or stayed long-term, does this line up with what you’ve seen? Any spots or tricks I should check out before I move on?
