Is barbacking worth it?

I want to become a bartender, is barbacking worth it? I’ve heard that at a restaurant it’s just the same as a busser, is this true? It would be my second job while also being in school, is it worth the stress? Sorry if this sounds stupid just pretty stressed thinking it might not be worth the time and effort.
