[Advice Needed] Is it safe to go to Manali & Tirthan Valley (9 weeks pregnant) in late December?
Hi everyone, I am writing this on behalf of a friend who isn't on Reddit.
My friend and her group (4 people total) arranged to go to Manali and Tirthan Valley for December 21st – 26th. The arrangements were finalized just before one of the friends found out she is pregnant.
By the time the outing starts, she will be 9 weeks along (first trimester). The Details: Mode of Transport: Flight to Chandigarh, then a hired car/cab to Manali/Tirthan.
Dates: Peak winter (late Dec).
The Dilemma: She is experiencing major FOMO and really wants to join the group, but she is obviously worried about the risks. She doesn't want to jeopardize her health.
We are looking for honest advice on: Road Conditions: How is the road from Chandigarh to Manali/Tirthan right now? We know the highway has improved, but are there still very jerky/bumpy patches?
Medical Access: If an emergency happens in Tirthan Valley, how far is a reliable hospital?
Altitude/Temperature: Is the cold or altitude generally an issue this early in pregnancy?
Disclaimer: She is definitely consulting her Gynecologist before making a final decision, but we wanted to hear from locals or those familiar with the terrain.
Thanks in advance!
