Advice on transitioning from pumping to nursing
Hello! I am currently 8 weeks postpartum with my second child. I originally nursed baby and quickly discovered she was transferring milk poorly. I resorted to pumping to increase my supply while letting her nurse a few times a day for practice.
Now my baby has a great latch and can empty my breasts entirely! Her first 3 feeds of the day she can be satiated entirely by exclusively nursing. As for her last 4 feeds I have been supplementing with bottles of pumped breast milk. I generally pump 2 times at night (10 PM and midnight) while she is asleep.
What should I be doing to help increase my supply to get rid of the need for supplemental bottles? I am currently breast feeding her and immediately supplementing her with a bottle while pumping. When I pump I am getting drops of milk.
Should I be continue to pump the 2 times at night while she is asleep or should I slowly wean off those sessions? I am not sure if dropping those pumps will hurt my supply or would my milk just shift to the day time?
