Entitlement to medical services

Discussion

I've been in service for about a few years now and it's baffling to see how many people just walk in demanding medications, investigations and services that are absolutely not needed. Idk if it's only in the non-thimphu area but man! It seems to get worse by the year. People walk in, give me what they think their diagnosis is (like googled) and then ask for meds and investigations which is wild. I explain to them why that's not the diagnosis and what I think the diagnosis is and why. Or why they do not need a certain medication or investigation done (mostly CT and x-ray).

A lot of them understand but rest get annoyed and irritated. Like bro, what do you think my job is?

They don't understand how unnecessary investigations and services burden the healthcare system. One even told me it was their right to get an ultrasound done after I told him it was not needed. I agreed it's his right but only if it's needed.

Medics of reddit. Have you ever experienced something similar.
