Friend is mad at me because I don’t try and look good for her

This is really petty but I’m feeling really quite annoyed and frustrated and I’m not sure what to do in this situation to be honest. I’m 18 and I met this girl through my roommate and we became pretty solid friends and would hangout like 1-2 times a month. We both get along pretty well and I never thought this would be a problem until we got into a slight argument. I am Asian and have very low visual weight with softer cheeks and jaw. Usually when I do my makeup it’s not really obvious unless I do my lashes in a very dramatised way which takes a long time so most of the time I’m not quite bothered to do them. And I usually dress quite casually when I’m with her and I never thought it would be a problem until she pointed out one day that I don’t try enough to look good when I’m with her and I got quite defensive. She said she feels disrespected that I don’t take a long time to look pretty when I’m hanging out with her.

Honestly that suprised me because I base my outfits and appearance on where I’m going. If it’s an expensive dinner or a club I would do my makeup and dress nice but I’ve only gone to coffee shops or shopping with her and I didn’t think I needed to look all that put together. But like I said I got a bit defensive and I do get her point. But I just don’t have the clothes or time to appear how she wants me to appear and it’s annoying for me to go buy new clothes and to wake up an extra hour just to go my lashes. Am I being extremely petty and what should I do to fix the situation?
