Honest take on Real Madrid's current situation as a fan since 2010
The current Real Madrid situation is not on the manager, maybe at most 10% on him. I've watched this club for over 15 years now and to me it has never been clearer that we're going down that Manchester United drain where the players' egos and their unwillingness to work hard is costing the team. I'm not saying that we're going to end up in the same situation just now, but this is exactly how Manchester United's downfall started. The moment the players think they're bigger than the club, it's over. Out of our current XI, there's at most 4 players who want to actually play for the club. I can bet everyone that changing coaches won't do much. You can keep changing coaches again and again but until someone disciplines these players or makes them realise that they're the ones at fault, nothing will change. The only reason to change the coach rn is if Xabi can't discipline them. There's no other reason. I refuse to believe that there are people who watch our games and think it's on the manager. We put out brilliant performances in the CWC, vs Barcelona and just last week vs Athletic Bilbao. Every time we play well, there's only one major difference and it's that the players are willing to play to win. Since last season, it seems like players don't have a passion to play. If you go back and look at the Real Madrid team from the previous decade, the players would constantly try to attack and score more even after being 2-0, 3-0 up. Players didn't just care about winning, they cared about dominating. Our current squad sits back, relaxes and watches relegation zone teams take control of the game the moment they're 1-0 up which funnily enough, isn't even the biggest problem anymore. We relax from the very start. Xabi was 100% correct when he said that we were better with 10 because we started trying. There's obviously lots of injuries and mismatches in the team as well like our entire defence being gone and having to play Asencio at RB, Carerras at CB etc. But this begs the question of how are we, the greatest club of all time, unable to find academy players or even our bench players unable to compete with fricking Celta Vigo? The coach cannot do everything. Not just this, Xabi hasn't been given the right keys to the team either. We do not have a mid fielder who's press resistant (maybe Cama on his best day, but he's always injured), we don't have a creative enough mid fielder and we certainly don't have a proper number 9 (tho given how Mbappe is playing this season, I would hate myself to call him the problem, he simply isn't). You can always go back and say but we won the 23-24 UCL without a starting XI striker but that's straight up false. Firstly we had Kroos back then and secondly we had Jude crashing into the box and had Joselu as a sub too. Even then, Courtois (or Lunin that season) was saving us MASSIVELY. But most importantly, our team wanted to win which is why we were able to make it work. Every time I look at any Real Madrid team from 2010-2022, the only difference I see from our current squad apart from the players is that our teams played to dominate back then. It's true that we currently lack players who compliment each other perfectly but to say that players of this level can't play together is embarrassing for the players itself. I could very well go on and pin point my frustrations with players who were my favourites 2 seasons ago like Vini, Rodrygo, Valverde, etc but I guess that's for another time. I think everyone knows which players are underperforming or not playing their hearts out but our fanbase is h*ll bent on being divided and fighting against each other. As a fan of 15 years, I've seen may of my favourites get kicked out off the club for underperforming so I really don't care if we get rid of players who won us our previous UCLs too. Mediocrity isn't something that should be appreciated at a club as big as ours. And just to end my point about how our squad isn't giving their best anymore, I would request everyone to watch teams like PSG, City, Chelsea and even Barcelona play and compare it to us.
