If I order a sandwich at subway did I make the sandwich?

If you go to Subway and order a sandwich, you didn’t make it. You picked options, paid for it, and someone or something else assembled it. That’s objective reality. Ordering isn’t cooking. You don’t get to claim you prepared the meal, you don’t get culinary credit, and you definitely can’t say you worked at Subway.

Same with AI images. Typing prompts is requesting output, not producing it. The model generates the art. The code, training, and weights do the literal image construction. You’re selecting ingredients, not baking bread. You don’t know the brushwork, you didn’t do the rendering, you didn’t generate the strokes or composition logic. You issued directions and the system did the labor of creation.

Owning the final product doesn’t make you the creator of the product. Purchasing a sandwich doesn’t make you a sandwich artist. Prompting a model doesn’t make you an artist in the traditional sense either. Both roles are user, not maker
