ADVICE NEEDED - Small Budget For Prospecting Campaign in Meta Ads

Help

Hello all, I've been giving Meta Ads a go for a while now (biker jewellery, £30 price point), but have failed to become profitable yet. Before running my next campaign I was hoping to clear up a couple of the roadblocks I am running into!

The campaign strategy I am going to implement next is as follows;

  • ABO prospecting campaign to test and identify winning creatives. £80 daily budget. Advantage+ targeting with stacked LAL’s and interests as audience suggestions. One ad creative style per ad set, with the exact same targeting settings.
  • ASC scaling campaign, 1 ad set with entirely broad targeting consisting of only the top performers w/ iterations.

At first, I will only be launching the prospecting campaign (as I do not have any winners to scale yet), but this is where I’m getting stuck;

  • Is a high budget necessary for prospecting campaigns if it will never exit the learning phase? I am aware that the £80 budget for prospecting is not enough to optimise fully, and the ads will therefore not exit the learning phase, however the goal here is just to buy data to test creatives (call it the 'testing tax'). So this being the case, would it be more efficient to test 4 creatives at a time with a £20 budget each, or allocate the budget more tightly to 2 creatives with a £40 budget?
  • I've heard that its good to run different variations of the creative in each ad set, but in doing so would this not dilute the budget across too many creatives and therefore not give enough spend to determine whether to kill or scale?

That being said, this strategy is just based on my past attempts as well as what I’ve researched online, so any feedback or additional advice for me going forward would be a huge help! Thanks.
