How do you thank your bus drivers?

Hi everyone, I’m an international student in the Netherlands who takes public transit to go to campus every day. I would like to thank my bus drivers when I get off, and so far I’ve been saying “Bedankt”, as I thought that’s how you say thank you in Dutch. However, I’ve gotten no reactions so far and am starting to wonder if I’m not saying something right. I don’t think I’m pronouncing it incorrectly. I was wondering if there was a more common way to say thank you to your drivers? Thanks in advance!
