I hope you guys know that Herbert was never not playing in this game.

In his post-game conference he talked about how guys on the team are going through their own shit every day that isn’t publicized. So he felt like he owes his teamates that same toughness to play through soreness and pain.

I never understood any of the conversation about whether 10 would play tonight or not. It was never a question of if; it was always a question of why the fuck not. It’s only a broken bone in his nonthrowing hand. Why the hell would he let that take him away from helping his team compete for a playoff spot, and potentially the division title? Herbert loves this sport, these are the moments he lives for. These are the moments that little kid who wrote down he wanted to play for the Chargers, dreamt of being in. If you ever thought there was a slight shot he wouldn’t play: why?

We’re witnessing a very, very special QB. Nobody’s going to be fully healthy anymore this season, everyone will play with some kind of shit lingering in their body. Justin Herbert is one of the all-time talents we’ll ever see. Soak that shit in and appreciate it. Rivers’ time went by in a flash, but when Herbert helps the Chargers raise their first Lombardi in team history, it’ll last for eternity.
