Can I install Ship of Harkinian without Steam ROM Manager?

Every time I would add a non-Steam game without using SRM, all of my categories got messed up and all non-Steam games got moved to "Uncategorized". The Steam app client recently changed the way categories are added. Does that mean the uncategorized" bug has been fixed? Can I add SoH to Steam and not run into this issue?
