Nurse comments have me second guessing

My 5 month old girl is 8.5kg (18.7lbs) and 67cm (26.3") and is 97th percentile across the board. We've had monthly appointments with her GP who has been happy with her progress given she's the same percentile on all measurements including head circumference.

However, a couple of days ago we saw a nurse (GP is on leave) who basically told us that bub is too big and likely nursing for comfort and we should try and stop this and offer other types of comfort first. Her rationale was that a baby should only double their birth weight by 6 months old.

I tried to do this for a few times and it's going against all my instinct - baby gets upset as I'm trying to stretch out feedings and i end up feeding anyway because she keeps crying.

Curious to hear if anyone else has had this kind of feedback and what you'd do?
