Why have contractor prices not come down since 2020?

Before we had a shortage, supply chain issues, fear of covid that justified the prices. Now we don't have those things. I see most my neighbors who are contractors living it up like they doing know where to up all this money or upgrading to the nice part of town - to $1.5 - 3m houses. Infact I'm thinking of getting out of working for big tech and bending a contractor.
