I wanna ask a guy for a date is it weird to ask it first ?

Like in my country mostly boys ask for a date a girl. But there is a guy in university, he is one year older than me he’s in 4th year and I’m in 3rd of med school.

He is a twink, literally my type. But i feel like i will be rejected. I kinda don’t care tbh if he rejects me or not, because maybe I’ll not see him ever after that.
