WIBTA for not hanging a painting my friend made for my birthday?

Hello! It was my (30F) birthday recently and one of my very good friends has been getting into painting. For my birthday she painted a picture of my husband and me on a big canvas which is about four feet wide. It's huge. I think I managed to hide how I felt about it when I opened it - I was shocked but I passed that off as being shocked she'd go to so much effort for me. And that was also true, my friend spent nearly two months painting it and I think it's such a nice thing for her to do.

The problem is that it's an absolutely awful painting. Me and my husband both look like ogres and you can barely even tell it's us other than the hair styles. When my husband saw it he was speechless... He just looked at me and asked what we're going to do.

I said there's no way we could hang it up, it would ruin the room it's in and he agreed. I said maybe we could hang something else and switch it every time my friend comes round, which is usually a couple of times a month.

I feel really bad about the situation and feel like I'd be lying to her if I did this. WIBTA?
