The 2 follow-up THQ Cars games are not better than the first game
I grew up in an era where THQ was still a thing, and when tie-in video games for movies and TV shows were also still a thing, and one of the first tie-in games I remembered playing was the PC version of the original 2006 Pixar Cars game.
It was basically Lightning McQueen's life a year after the first film, and centered around him getting ready for the next Piston Cup racing season. Obviously, because it's nearly 20-years-old, the game isn't super great today, but I still had a lot of fun playing it both back then, and now.
However, this was also an era when the Cars franchise was super popular, so naturally, after the first game became a success, Disney demanded that THQ make more Cars games. And so they did, with Rainbow Studios developing Cars: Mater-National Championship in 2007, and Incinerator Studios developing Cars Race-O-Rama in 2009.
Now don't get me wrong, I enjoyed playing both games. I liked how Mater-National had more minigames, more monster truck races, and had overall better controls. And for Race-O-Rama, the customization and nice graphics are much appreciated.
However, even though I've played all three games just about the same, I just never got into the latter 2 games as much as the first game. Maybe it was due a different voice cast. Maybe it was due to things differing from the original movie.
I still loved playing all three of the THQ Cars games, but to me, I'll always think that the first game is the best of the trilogy.
