Mouse/mice in house. No droppings!

Hello! For the past couple months we have been aware of a mouse (or mice!) In the house due to actually seeing it. We have no droppings. We've cleaned the house, there's no crumbs/food where they've been spotted. We've put some traps down but no luck. Any other tips??
