Bikes stolen by the municipality
A couple weeks ago we received a letter saying that bikes parked on the main market square have to be taken elsewhere, and can be parked on Oude Langendijk. Yesterday all of the bicycles parked on Oude Langendijk have been taken by the municipality.
The bikes were parked properly, locked and chained (and had no removal tags). After discovering that all of the bikes are missing, I went to the bike parking facility nearby to ask what happened to the bikes. The worker said that there was a misunderstanding between the municipality and the company and that the bikes weren't supposed to be taken, and were taken by mistake.
The bikes showed up on the bike depot website today. The depot is in the Hague, and there's a 25euro fee to collect the bikes. They also cut the chain. I'm not going to pay the company for destroying my property and stealing my bike, and I'm not going to take a day off work just to cycle back to Delft.
Ngl I'm pretty pissed off, they stole my only mode of transportation.
Has anyone been in this situation before? Was it resolved?
