Problem with saving in-game progress

I had recently bought gta 4 on steam and I am having issues with saving progress. Auto save doesn’t work and sleeping also does not save the game. “Save failed. Please check your storage device and try again.” This is what it says when I try and save the game. I have more than enough space on the pc. Am I missing any files? Any solutions for this?
