I gave my students one rule for presentations , and it completely backfired in the funniest way

Humor

So I teach 10th grade history, and for their final project I told them, “You can present your topic any way you want, as long as it teaches the class something.” I figured I’d get a few PowerPoints and maybe a skit or two. What I got was... chaos. One group turned our classroom into a full-on courtroom drama. They “prosecuted” Napoleon for war crimes and had students acting as witnesses, guards, and even a dramatic closing statement with fake tears. Another group made a game show called “Who Wants to Avoid the Plague?” complete with buzzers and historical trivia. Then one group went rogue and brought a Bluetooth speaker to blast 18th century sea shanties while performing a rap battle between Thomas Jefferson and King George. It was objectively ridiculous , and absolutely amazing. The principal even walked in mid-rhyme and just stood there trying not to laugh. Honestly, it reminded me why I love this job. When you give teenagers creative freedom, you either get disaster or genius , and sometimes both at the same time.
