Recommendations for culinary school / chef courses for small entrepreneurs
Hello! I’ve been toying with the idea of opening a small place next year. It would be a small place with 2-3 tables in a family property with a very small menu (3-5 items) and only myself as staff to keep overhead costs extremely low.
I originally planned on giving myself around 6-8 months self-studying the fundamentals using online tutorials/recipes. I should also be able to use this time to save up for the initial opening expenses. However, it recently crossed my mind that a short course is also an option. While this is less for profit/income and more of a passion project, I still want to give it my best shot and cover all my bases. Looking at prices though, it feels too overkill to drop 300-900k on a diploma for what is essentially not my main livelihood.
I have a full time job (wfh) so while flexible, it’s not to the point where I can commit to daily classes with morning schedules. I’m also degree holder so I don’t really want to go through a 2/4-yr course. My budget is around 100-200k (MAX) as I don’t want to spend too much and not have capital for the business. I am based in Bulacan so it should be based in Metro Manila, preferably not South.
I would appreciate any recommendations/advice if I should even enroll in a course given my purpose! Thank you!
