I’m cancelling the date…

I had a date lined up next week from this guy I matched with on bumble. He seemed funny and bold which is totally my type, but in his bio he mentioned, “my ex left me”, weird to say when the purpose of a bio is usually about yourself? I brushed it over regardless and people tend to communicate differently and maybe it was his sense of humour.

I tried leading up to asking him why he decided to put that in his bio but I didn’t even get the chance, he continually mentions his ex, “we did this together, they broke up with me, we did that together”. I asked him how long ago was the breakup?

He said a month ago.

Now that totally threw me off. I don’t think 4 weeks is enough time to get over a 12 month relationship. I’m not someone who dates often, I’ve built my own happiness and community that doesn’t make me dependent on romantic relationships. In other words, single? I’m happy! In a relationship, I’m happy!

I really do want to give him the benefit of the doubt but my mates said “my kindness leads me to strange places” so im debating wether or not to cancel the dinner date we had lined up.

Am I overreacting? Or is this a serious red flag?
