Need advice on what to book

I have to go to calicut on 13th. I have two options either i book the direct indigo flight or i book the one with a layover in BLR. I feel there is a higher risk of direct flight getting cancelled More so, in the layover flight, if they cancel my 2nd leg of journey ie from BLR to calicut, they are bound to provide me with a connecting flight right ?
