Day 61 of introductions a boxer: Joshua Edwards.
Each day, I’ll post something about a prospect and bring eyes to these guys or talk about an aspect of their game that interests me. I’ll start from 105lb-200+lb, but if on the same day a boxer fights that isn’t on the timeline, I’ll post 2 or more boxers on the same day. I already have a list on who I’m going to do for this series so if others give me names on who to do, I’ll just not reply.
Joshua Edwards is a 25 year old prospect from the US with a 5-0 record who competes at heavyweight. As an amateur, placed 1st at the US nationals, bronze in the AMBC championships, gold in the Czech Republic Grand Prix, Gold in the pan American games and a 2024 Olympian.
Edwards fights in an orthodox stance, a very talented boxer who’s built like an absolute rock and a unit. His style is carried by great footwork and distance management. He is comfortable anywhere, he can stick straights at range and use footwork, angles, a sniper jab as he pokes you from the outside, he can pressure behind straights and open shots that present from his straights, he can fight on the inside, land a mix of head and body shots, constant use of different angles to get his shots off.
Now he does look talented with heavy hands, great footwork but I do wish we see more fundamental work from him.
I thought I posted this on the day he last fought which was on the undercard of Erickson Lubin vs Vergil Ortiz but apparently I forgot.
