New study says home cooks are wasting tons of herbs and spices each year - anyone else guilty of this?

I came across an article today about how most households throw out nearly half their dried herbs and spices because they lose potency long before we finish the jars. The study compared “fresh” bottles from stores to ones people had at home, and the difference in aroma and flavor was apparently huge. The researchers said things like basil, paprika, and thyme were the biggest offenders. It made me look at my own spice shelf, and... Yeah, I’m pretty sure I have cumin old enough to vote. I cook a lot, but I still end up with jars that stick around for years because I only need a teaspoon at a time. The article suggested buying smaller quantities or getting spices from bulk bins, but I’ve never actually tried that. Curious if anyone here has switched to buying super small amounts or has any tricks to avoid wasting a bunch of stale spices. Is it actually worth the effort for better flavor, or is this one of those things where the difference is subtle enough that only pros notice?
