Stupid RX 9070 XT
Hey Reddit!
I have the following Problem:
My Gigabyte RX 9070 XT Gaming OC thinks that it absolutely needs 3 Power Connectors. But i have different Plans, and i thought, that i can use the Card like i want since i bought it and now own it. Turns out Gigabyte doesnt like that and covers it with "security". I have a PSU with 300 Watts on the PCIe Connectors (2x8-Pin) + 75 Watts from the PCIe Slot. Together that would be 375 Watts of Power going to the GPU. The RX 9070 XT typically needs about 300 Watts of Power and AMD knows that and released their reference design with 2x8-Pin, which is great. But Gigabyte and other Manufactuers think they are Special due to adding 100Mhz Boost Clocks or smth. That leads to them adding another (useless) 8-Pin connector and make it, so that the Card wont boot without every Connector plugged in, even tho it absolutely could.
"But it will be unstable bla bla bla"
- Yes i know and i dont care, because its MY card and i want to run it under its Power Limit anyway but i cant.
Does anyone have any clue how to get around that? Are there any signal Pins in the 8-Pin connector, that i could short together to trick the GPU into thinking it got all the 3 Cables plugged in??
Greetings!
