F37- Colonoscopy today: 12 polyps removed. Looking for advice and experiences

Hi all, I’m 37 F, 9 weeks postpartum, and had my first colonoscopy today where they removed 12 polyps. To say I’m shocked is an understatement. I only went because I had a few days of minor blood in my stool which was likely from a hem. my GP and OB didn’t seem worried, but I pushed for a GI referral. Pathology is pending, and doc said I probably won’t know the results until the end of January. Here’s a breakdown of what was removed: 3 sessile polyps in the transverse colon (4-5mm), 1 sessile polyp in the descending colon (5mm), 8 pedunculated polyps in the sigmoid colon (6-7mm)

I’m a fairly anxious person and tend to lose the ability to think clearly and ask the right questions when talking to my doctor. For those who’ve had similar experiences, what questions should I be asking or pushing my doc on?

I’m also curious about Whether my situation qualifies me for any genetic testing for polyp syndromes.

For people with similar polyp counts, can you have a long and happy life with careful monitoring? Google makes it all seem scary. Any shared experiences, advice on questions, or insight would be appreciated
