Underfloor heating vs electric radiators in mill conversion apartment
I’ve bought a brick mill conversion apartment and I’m looking for advice on the best way to keep it consistently warm considering the tall ceilings (about 13-15ft).
Currently it has standard wall mounted electric heaters which from my experience are fiddly, inefficient, loud, and make the room feel stuffy up top and cold down low.
I’m considering putting in some underfloor heating and ideally removing the heaters entirely or at least not having to use them very often.
Does anyone know if this is in any way a good idea for:
- consistent warmth
- cost & heat efficiency
- quality of life (not stuffy air/smells, and nice warm feet…)
- is wet or electric better? My understanding is that wet is much more expensive to install and bigger risks with leaks etc. but electric is more expensive to run?
We are likely going to have to replace all the electric radiators with a decent app controlled alternative anyway so just wondering if we can essentially “offset” that cost by doing the underfloor instead and keeping the existing ones for ad-hoc heating in extreme conditions.
Thanks!
