Should I see a psychiatrist?
I have always had symptoms of bpd but I always assumed this was just the effects of a bad childhood, and not necessarily a disorder. My dad died when I was 4, I was bullied growing up, my mom and stepfather were emotionally unavailable, and they fought pretty often. I have always had anger issues, abandonment issues, addiction issues, and a unstable sense of self, but like I said I always assumed this was just a normal part of trauma. Fast forward a couple weeks ago, I find out my mom has been cheating on my stepdad. I knew she was hanging out with the guy, but she told me he was just a friend and I was stupid enough to believe her. My mom was my favorite person in the world and this turned my entire world upside down. I feel better by now, but deep down I know I am just repressing the pain. I am finding comfort in talking to girls, alcohol, doomscrolling, either overeating or not eating at all, and like 800mg of caffeine a day. My anger issues have been on another level, I can’t handle the slightest stress without losing my shit. I don’t want to talk to any of my family but I want to talk to girls that I know don’t love me all day long. I’m kind of a mess rn and I’m considering seeing a psychiatrist after this.
