Family/Relatives: Express Entry & PR Application
Hey there, folks! I just got my ITA today along with the PNP draw. Of course, the questions have become a lot more specific and as I’ve learned from endlessly scrolling on this subreddit, I recognize the PR application is essentially substantiating everything you’ve earned points for on your EE application.
I was hoping to picks your (collective) brains about two questions because I’ve read conflicting thoughts, and I’m sure the conflicting thoughts will occur in the comments below:
- I have 3 Canadian citizen uncles (Mum’s brothers) and 3 Canadian citizen aunties (Mum’s sisters) who live in Vancouver. In my express entry profile, I didn’t not mention them in the section asking if I have relatives in Canada because they would NOT be willing to provide documentation to support my PR application.
Now in the PR application, the question comes up again and I’m pausing and hesitating. Should I say “no” to relatives in Canada if they a) don’t give me points on express entry anyway b) aren’t willing to provide documentation to substantiate we’re related?
- For my non-accompanying family, it’s asking about my parents, step-siblings, etc: I’m estranged with my father for 27 out of 32 years of life, nor do I know where he lives- all I know is his name, potential date of birth, and the fact he’s an American citizen. I also have no connection with my step-siblings, nor do I know their dates of birth, or locations of existing, except for the fact they’re also American.
In my EE profile, it mentioned that I don’t have to list a second parent if I don’t know their whereabouts, so I only listed my Mum who I’m very close with. On my PR application, I got nervous and hesitated.
Sooooo, here I am, shouting into a room full of like-minded people 😂 Your thoughts/experiences?? I just don’t want to appear as misrepresenting, so I’m nervous about the aforementioned points.
